New Member Applications

The membership chair will approve all applications and mail your 2010 membership card to confirm your status is up to date and you are a member in good standing with the OATA.

Please note that NEW MEMBERS may pay dues online using Paypal, but will not be approved until all official documentation is received. Requirements to apply for new memberships can be reviewed below.  Any inquiries can be directed to membership@oata.ca

Registered Art Therapist

Requests for eligibility sent to: Registration Chair
May hold office and supervise A.T. students.
Required: 1000 hours of supervised paid direct client contact accumulated after graduation; one hour of supervision per 20 hours of agency practice, and/or 10 hours of private practice. Max of 500 hours may be private practice hours.
Membership fees are due annually at the beginning of each year. Renewals are considered late on March 1st and liable for a $10.00 late charge.

Professional Member

Submit by registered mail (keep copies):
documentation of 700 practicum hours signed by the applicant and his/her registered supervisor.
official (original) transcripts from a recognized art therapy program (if not already submitted).
official (original) transcripts of B.A.
May hold office and, after six months, apply for registered membership.
Required: a B.A. and completion of a comprehensive training program in art therapy, which includes 480 hours of classes and 700 unpaid hours of practicum supervised by a registered art therapist.
Membership fees are due annually at the beginning of each year. Renewals are considered late on March 1st and liable for a $10.00 late charge.

This downloadable form letter is to be used by members applying for Professional status, wishing to have the Art Therapy training program validate their practicum hours in lieu of submitting their 700 hours sheet. This form letter is only available through the OATA.

Graduate Member
$75.00 Non-Voting

official (original) transcripts
Required: completion of training from a recognized art therapy program, which includes a minimum of 480 hours of class time.
Not required to hold a B.A. and may have less than 700 hours in practicum.

Student Member
$40.00 Non-Voting
Submit:
photocopy ID of current student status.

Inactive Member
$50.00 Non-Voting
Apply to the Board in writing.

Associate Member
$80.00 Non-Voting

Retired Member
$50.00 Voting

This downloadable application is to be used by Registered or Professional members in good standing with the OATA who are at least fifty-five (55) years of age and no longer engaged in the active practice of Art Therapy.
